Description
ESR ( Erythrocyte sedimentation rate) is a diagnostic indicator, due to which reveals a relationship between protein components of blood plasma, as well as the number and volume of erythrocytes during various pathological processes is revealed. It is determined by the ability of erythrocytes to form columnar aggregates. The level of aggregation of erythrocytes depends on the charge of their membrane and the composition of plasma proteins, and increases with an increase in the concentration of acute phase proteins (markers of inflammatory processes).
